An access log is a text file which contains a complete list of all of the files accessed by your site visitors. All of the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so when you have a PHP script program and a website visitor opens only the home page, for example, you might find numerous files in the log. It is because there are things on the home page that are embedded - parts of other Internet pages, pictures, and so on. All of these files shall be listed inside the access log, so you can get a full picture of the way your site functions. The info is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally termed "raw data" too. An access log provides the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, browser and Operating System. More information, including the referrer website, is sometimes supplied as well. A log file can be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics created by your website hosting server.
Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting
Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your shared hosting
account and visit this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you shall see a download link and also the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you no longer need one, you can stop it with simply a click from the very same section of the CP. You'll still be able to access the already generated content by simply clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
When you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server
account with our company, you shall have the option to enable or disable the generation of access logs with only a couple of mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You'll find this function inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is a single click on the On button you'll see there. The feature can be triggered individually for any website regardless of whether it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you shall find the full list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you could then view it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation could be disabled by simply changing the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your CP.
